Terms and Conditions of Refunds

The terms and conditions outlined below apply to Spirit of Tasmania fares purchased online at spiritoftasmania.com.au, from Spirit of Tasmania's Customer Contact Centre and terminals, and via authorised travel agents.

Refund rules:

  1. Refunds may only be granted for journeys not yet travelled and are subject to Spirit of Tasmania's amendment and cancellation fees and fare conditions.
  2. Refunds are available for Flexi Fares; however conditions apply to refund payments. All other fare types, including but not limited to Spirit Fares and Red Hot Deal Fares, are subject to cancellation fees and therefore are not fully refundable.
  3. 48 hour free cancellation period. Cancellations must be made within 48 hours from time of booking and the scheduled departure time is greater than 7 days. Amendment and Payment Fees are non-refundable.
  4. Fees and surcharges incurred at the time of making or amending a booking are non-refundable.
  5. Booking amendments made via Spirit of Tasmania's Customer Contact Centre and terminals may be subject to an amendment fee. Booking amendments made online via My booking are not subject to an amendment fee.

  7. The Contact name of a booking may also be referred to as the payee. The payee is the person responsible for the payment of the booking.

Refund payments:

Refunds will be credited back to the payee in the same or similar form to the original payment.
Details of how refund payments will be issued are outlined in the table below.

Note: Travel agent bookings may be subject to travel agent refund policies and payment methods.

Refund payments are subject to the following conditions:

  1. If a booking was made via an authorised travel agent, refund payments will be issued by the travel agent. The payee must contact their travel agent if they wish amend or cancel their booking. Refund payments may be subject to the travel agents' refund policy.
  2. Credit card refunds will be processed at the time of the request. Refund payments will be credited back to the original credit card used for the original booking, via an authorised CardGate Credit Card Payment Gateway. Payment fees are not refundable.
  3. If payment to the original credit card is declined, Spirit of Tasmania will endeavour to contact the payee based on the contact details originally supplied. The payee may be asked to provide additional information and/or proof of identity to verify their booking and refund. Payments unable to be issued back to the original credit card will be issued in the form of a cheque.
  4. Cheques will be made payable to the payee in the booking, unless that person has authorised us in writing to pay the refund to someone else. Cheques will be sent to the address in the booking and sent via regular post within 14 days of the refund request.
  5. Gift voucher refunds will be processed at the time of the request. Refund payments will be issued in the form of a new gift voucher; they will not be issued by cash, cheque or credit card. The new gift voucher will be issued to the recipient of the original gift voucher. If the original recipient is unknown at the time of issuing the refund, the new gift voucher will be issued to the Contact Name on the original booking.   6. If a booking was paid by more than one form of payment, online refund payments will be credited back to the payee in the following order; first by credit card (if applicable); then by PayTo (if applicable); then by cheque (if applicable); and finally by gift voucher (if applicable).
  7. It is the payee's responsibility to provide Spirit of Tasmania with the correct details so a refund payment can be issued. Spirit of Tasmania is not liable if incorrect details are supplied, or if a refund payment issued in the form of a cheque or gift voucher is lost or misplaced.
  8. Spirit of Tasmania reserves the right to contact the payee and request proof of identity, proof of age, proof of residency matching the address originally provided, and any other additional information relevant to the booking. In the event that the payee cannot provide suitable proof or documentation, Spirit of Tasmania has the right to refuse the refund request and investigate the matter further before issuing a refund payment.
  9. PayTo refunds will be processed at the time of the request. Refund payments will be credited back to the bank account used for the original booking, via an authorised PayTo Payment Gateway.
  10. If payment to the original bank account used by the PayTo payment is declined, Spirit of Tasmania will endeavour to contact the payee based on the contact details originally supplied. The payee may be asked to provide additional information and/or proof of identity to verify their booking and refund. Payments unable to be issued back to the original bank account via the PayTo Payment Gateway will be issued in the form of a cheque.
