The Minister for Infrastructure, Jim Cox, today welcomed the new Director of the TT-Line Board, Dr Jeff Hawkins.

Mr Cox said Dr Hawkins had been a valuable contributor to the Tasmanian Maritime community over many years.

"Through his work as Senior Lecturer and Associate Director at the Australian Maritime College at Launceston, Dr Hawkins has helped mould a generation of Tasmanian Maritime students.

"TT-Line will now have the benefit of his experience and knowledge."

Mr Cox said that Dr Hawkins had more than 25 years professional experience in the maritime industry as well as a PhD in Maritime Business Strategy and a Master of Science in International Shipping.

"As a TT-Line Board member, Dr Hawkins will be able to assist TT-Line develop strategies for the future."

"Dr Hawkins will bring the Board valuable knowledge and experience and assist us in placing TT-Line in the frontline of policy initiatives."

Mr Cox said Dr Hawkins replaced Mr Jim Fitzmaurice, who resigned in February 2007.

"I thank Mr Fitzmaurice for his efforts for TT-Line and wish him well into the future."
