This morning over 15 Jaguar XK150's sailed into Devonport
onboard the Spirit of Tasmania.
It marks the beginning of the 50th Golden Jubilee Jaguar XK150
Tour of Tasmania. Event Organiser, Warwick Holmes said that
Tasmania was the obvious touring destination for it boasts some of
Australia's best touring roads.
"We chose to travel onboard the Spirit of Tasmania for
they could transport our vehicles and the ship has many lounges and
bars which provide a relaxed environment for the drivers to get to
know each other.
"Apparently last night some of the drivers got together for a
few quite drinks while others chose to get in early and try some
local Tasmanian cuisine in the ship's Seasons Restaurant.
Warwick mentioned the Jaguar XK150 model was first manufactured
in February 1957 and most of the cars involved in the tour are
around 50 years old.
"We have a fine collection of cars on show and some have come as
far as the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
"I am really excited about this tour for we will be able to show
fellow Australian and overseas drivers the many treasures that
Tasmania has to offer," Warwick said.
The nine day tour of Tasmania will begin in Devonport and cars
will pass through Launceston and Hobart before returning to
Devonport on Saturday 24 February 2007 to conclude the tour.
