This summer the Spirit of Tasmania ships will come alive with an
exciting entertainment schedule featuring a variety of renowned
local musical artists and an enchanting educational presentation to
keep the kids amused for hours.
Ms Melindy Green, Director Passengers Sales, Marketing and
Communication said the 9-hour day sailings give summer holiday
makers the perfect opportunity to be thoroughly entertained by an
excellent repertoire of talented Victorian and Tasmanian musical
artists.
"We have chosen 25 duos and groups
that perform a versatile mix of music genres and will more than
likely have our passengers tapping their feet and dancing on the
decks," she said.
"Soul Divas are one of Melbourne's
most popular and visually entertaining duos who cover all musical
styles from 30's-40's Jazz, 50's Rock, Classic 60's Soul, 70's
Retro through to today's Top 40 Hits. Passengers who like to dance
won't be able to resist this duo.
"When it comes to musical genres -
Roundabout has got it covered! From Dance, Rock, Pop, Blues, Funk,
Celtic and Country. They are highly experienced Tasmanian
performers and fondly referred to as the "duo in demand".
"And if you like everything from
Sinatra to today's Top 40 with all that's in between, Red Hot
Raymond covers Classic Rock 'n' Roll, Top 40 Dance, Cabaret, Funk
and the fashionable Country Rock."
Ms Green mentioned that a new
interactive and educational children's presentation had also been
introduced.
"Children on board Spirit of
Tasmania will be treated to a preview of Tasmania's wilderness,
wildlife and cultural hot-spots before they even reach the island,
with the inclusion of Creature Tales to the onboard entertainment
program," she said.
"Four different Creature Tales
presentations are available including: wildlife story-based
documentaries; DVD slideshows encompassing Tasmania's natural and
cultural heritage; interactive game shows; and a performance for
the children - 'Creature Tales of the Flippered', which follows the
journey of two little penguins and educates the audience on what to
expect and how to behave when looking for penguins on Tasmanian
beaches.
"We have always said that your
journey starts as soon as you step on board Spirit of Tasmania, and
we thought we'd utilise time on our day sailings to inform and
entertain our passengers."
The entertainment program is
available on both ships during selected day sailings between 21
December 2007 - 13 April 2008 and passengers are encouraged to do
the hot shoe shuffle to the phone today to secure their summer
passage.
