14 September 2008

Spirit of Tasmania is celebrating the first days of spring with an invitation only Open Day this weekend.

It is the first time since 2002 that Spirit of Tasmania has opened its gangway. This weekend, Saturday, 5 September from 10am - 3pm and Sunday, 6 September from 10am - 4pm, almost 9000 people will attend the two day Open Day event.

There will be 50 exhibitors from Tasmania in the Station Pier terminal, bringing a selection of Tasmania's best! The exhibitors will include travel operators who can take you four-wheel driving, show you where to catch the best fish, help you locate a cosy cabin just for two on the Cradle Coast and inform you on cruising the Tamar River. Where one journey ends, another is awaiting just for you!

Guests will then be able to step aboard and take a self guided tour of the ship. Relax into one of the Ocean View Recliner's, peer out of a Deluxe Cabin porthole and test the 3-4 berth cabins for size and comfort. The array of facilities on board include bars, restaurants, shops, cinema, games room and more.

Spirit of Tasmania introduces for the very first time live entertainment acts during the night spring sailing season; boasting Elvis and his showgirls, salsa performers and instructors and Fast Eddy's cooking display as well as Coxy and his show band! A sample of on board entertainment will also be performing during the Open Day, including Elvis and salsa dancers.

Spirit of Tasmania encourages you to experience something different, and ignite your spirit this spring with a journey to remember.
