4 November 2008
Spirit of Tasmania will offer discounted fares of up to 75 per
cent in November to encourage people to travel between Melbourne
and Devonport.
TT-Line Chief Executive Officer Charles Griplas said this was a
good example of the type of initiatives the company was
implementing to support Tasmanian tourism.
"We expect that the sale will generate solid demand for sea
travel between mainland Australia and Tasmania," he said.
"This will give the Tasmanian tourism sector a boost at a time
when passengers are evaluating their travel options for the
Christmas and New Year period.
"Offering discounted fares that encourage people to travel when
otherwise they would not is just one way we can contribute to the
state's tourism industry and the broader Tasmanian economy."
As part of the sale, a private twin inside cabin will be reduced
from $275 to just $70 per person each way, while an Ocean View
Recliner drops from $182 to $45 per person each way.
Passengers will also save an additional $5 per person each
way if they book online.
The special sale would apply to tickets purchased tomorrow
(Wednesday 5 November) and Thursday (6 November 2008).
