Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who participated in this competition. Many hundreds of entries were received in total with children between ages 7-9 having the highest amount of entries, closely followed by children aged 6 and under.

When asked "What did you like most about your trip on Spirit of Tasmania?" the winners answered:

  • Harry - "Watching the smoke from the pipes and driving our car under the ship."
  • Chloe - "The movies and face painting."
  • Miranda - "I liked the face painting."

The competition provided insightful feedback as to what children enjoyed most about their trip on board. The judges from Spirit of Tasmania enjoyed looking at each colourful entry and were pleased with how many items some children listed as being their favourite parts of travelling on the ship. Some of these intuitive responses included:

  • "The games room and the staff were very friendly," said Danyon (age category 7-9).
  • "Seeing the ocean go for miles and miles," said Ned (age category 7-9).
  • "I liked my cabin because it was roomy and comfy," said Cameron (age category 7-9).
  • "Seeing the other Spirit of Tasmania pass us by in the middle of Bass Strait," said Greg (age category 6 and under).
  • "Getting the little mini Spirit toy and exploring around the ship," said Ruby (age category 6 and under).
  • "Colouring in this picture and all the water everywhere," said Evie (age category 6 and under).
  • "I loved everything and I explored everywhere but my favourite thing was early in the morning eating a very yummy breakfast in the sun watching the water," said Shari-lee (age category 10-12).
  • "Everything was great and exciting. I really liked going out on the decks and looking at the gift shop, thank you for a great trip," said Lucas (age category 10-12).
  • "The view from Spirit of Tasmania, the friendly staff, nice jelly and the on board movies," said Alyssha-Jane (age category 10-12).

The staff from Spirit of Tasmania would like to thank all the children who participated in the Colour with Spirit competition for 2009.
