4 November 2009
Harley-Davidson enthusiasts from Australia and all
over the world are expected to roar into Tasmania this week, as
Launceston plays host to the 19th Australian H.O.G. (Harley Owners
Group) Rally. The event will take place over three thunderous days,
from November 6 - 8 and will be open to the public.
Two special sailings were added to Spirit of Tasmania's normal
sailing schedule to accommodate the volume of Harley-Davidson
motorcycles travelling to Tasmania for the H.O.G. rally. The first
extra sailing departed Melbourne at 9am today and will arrive into
Devonport at 6pm. The second extra sailing will depart at 9am on
Thursday 5 November 2009.
To mark the occasion an exclusive Spirit of Tasmania and H.O.G.
rally commemorative pin has been designed for members who travel on
these sailings to Tasmania for the event - to top off what is set
to be a rally that will go down in history.
A selection of films featuring Harley-Davidson motorcycles will be
screened in the on board cinema, paying tribute to the iconic biker
brand.
In addition, passengers will have the opportunity to rub shoulders
with big names from the industry, such as renowned Harley-Davidson
stuntman Matt Mingay - who will be signing autographs on posters
and merchandise throughout the sailing.
The rally will showcase top Aussie performers such as Jimmy Barnes
and The Giants as well as traditional biker events and
entertainment including the H.O.G member Show Us Your Tatts and
Show and Shine competitions, stunt demonstrations, biker gymkhana
and the famous Thunder Ride.
