Celebrity
cooking secrets will be shared on board Spirit of Tasmania tonight
as Paul Mercurio combines his great love of food and love of travel
in his hugely successful television show, Mercurio's Menu.
Paul is well known to audiences around the world as the star of
Strictly Ballroom and former judge on Dancing with the Stars.
Viewers of Mercurio's Menu join him on his quest to discover fresh
local produce and cuisines as the series travels deep into many
magnificent destinations and regions in Australia.
With the help of local chefs - such as Andrea Anagastapolous from
Spirit of Tasmania - Paul prepares truly original dishes while more
than 870,000 people tune in each week to join him on his culinary
adventures around the country.
Each chef will prepare a meal for the other chef to try on board
Spirit of Tasmania tonight. Andrea will prepare a dish for Paul
from the on board al la carte restaurant menu, while Paul will
prepare his own dish for Andrea to sample.
Two lucky passengers travelling on board the ship from Devonport
to Melbourne this evening will have a chance to feature in the show
by sampling the tasty meals that both these exceptional chefs plate
up.
"I travelled on the Spirit a few times and always looked forward
to it, more so now since I've sourced some fantastic fresh
Tasmanian produce that I'll be cooking on the ship tonight," said
Paul Mercurio.
Currently, the show is in its third series and will feature two
episodes on Tasmania's north-west around Stanley, Smithton,
Devonport and surrounds, while promoting the region for its
delicious variety of dairy, seafood, beef, vegetables and
wines.
The Tasmanian episodes will be aired on Channel Seven in late
2009. Series two is currently airing on Channel Seven, Saturdays at
5pm.
