Spirit's new statewide competition!

29 June 2009

Spirit of Tasmania today launched a brand new competition called 'Tassie on a shoestring'. In 25 words or less, local residents of Tasmania will be asked to describe how visitors can see and enjoy Tassie on a shoestring budget with the chance to win over $4,000 in prizes.

TT-Line aims to boost the Tasmanian economy and increase visitation to the state with a new promotion. Holidays which represent value are proving popular in the current economic climate and Tasmania is well placed to capitalise on this trend. We are inviting local Tasmanians to participate in this innovative initiative.

A selection of the best responses will be published in Spirit of Tasmania's new unique Tasmania travel guide in late 2009. Suggestions may include a place that offers great value meals, a natural attraction or a great way to save money while travelling around Tassie.

"Research has shown that in today's economic climate more Australians are being encouraged to holiday at home rather than overseas and they want value for money," said Charles Griplas, CEO, Spirit of Tasmania.

"Our new statewide competition is important for the state's tourism industry and the broader Tasmanian economy.

"Spirit of Tasmania is synonymous with Tasmania, so we know what's good for Spirit is going to be good for the state.

"The new handy travel guide will hopefully be passed on to friends, relatives and recommended to any potential traveller wanting to visit Tasmania for a holiday.

"Tasmanians know their state better than anyone else, so we are asking all local residents to step up to the challenge and enter via our website. A return trip for four on board Spirit of Tasmania and Tasmanian entertainment books are some of the great prizes that can be won.

"I encourage all Tasmanian residents to enter our new competition because it's about us getting down to grass roots and involving the entire community.

"We want the whole state to get involved and promote Tasmania like never before with their Tassie on a shoestring budget ideas," said Mr Griplas.

Visit spiritoftasmania.com.au/shoestring and tell us in 25 words or less how to see and enjoy Tassie on a shoestring budget for your chance to win a share in over $4,000 worth of prizes. Competition closes Friday 24 July 2009 at 5pm.
