A SWEET INDULGENCE OF CREPES BY THE SEA

24 March 2011

This Friday, add a touch of sweet indulgence to your morning and visit Wheeler Street Reserve for 'Crepes by the Sea'.

The Edgewater Hotel, located on the shores of Mersey River, will host its final event as part of the Devonport Food & Wine Festival, which concludes at the end of the month.

Manager of the Edgewater Hotel Michael Wyett recently participated in the Taste the Harvest festival by producing the 'Edge BBQ Plate' which included wood-fired oven bread, cheese and bacon and za'atar herb breads, marinated chicken and beef kebabs and zesty potato salad.

"Being our first year, we planned to cater for 300 BBQ platters and by end of the day, we had sold 280 - we were delighted," Mr Wyett said.

Mr Wyett believes Friday's 'Crepes by the Sea' event will be just as successful.

"Crepes will be one of the many dishes trialed on the specials board in The Port, our new restaurant at The Edgewater Hotel," he said.

"This event will provide the opportunity to see if people enjoy crepes.

"This Friday we are serving a sweet crepe breakfast plate consisting of two crepes, one filled with hot cinnamon apple and the other with chilled wild berries, garnished with Chantilly cream and laced with Leatherwood honey and a sprig of mint.

"Mr Wyett said there was good reason to highlight the importance of Tasmanian produce on the North West Coast.

"Tasmania's foods and wines are exceptional in quality and taste - we have delicious options at our fingertips and it is a great feeling to source ingredients locally," he said.

Mr Wyett also has a tip for those who are a little worried about their waistline.

"Eat your crepes quickly, so the calories don't have time to count!"

Enjoy a morning tea with your colleagues or friends on Friday 25 March 2011.
