8 July 2002
TT-Line's new Bass Strait passenger and passenger-vehicle ferries, Spirit of Tasmania I and II, commence their delivery voyage to Tasmania from Greece.

18 July 2002
Spirit of Tasmania unveils the new logo and corporate image for Spirit of Tasmania I and II.

8 August 2002
Spirit of Tasmania II is officially blessed and named at Princes Wharf in Hobart by naval Chaplain Father Michael Delaney and Mrs Honey Bacon respectively.


11 August 2002
Open Day in Hobart attracts 30,000 people and raises $32,000 for various Rotary charities.

13 August 2002
Spirit of Tasmania I and II depart the Port of Hobart for Station Pier, Port Melbourne, at 11am and 11.20am respectively.

14 August 2002
The ships arrive into Melbourne.

17 & 18 August 2002
80,000 people attend Open Days held in Melbourne.

24 August 2002
Spirit of Tasmania I arrives into Devonport and is officially blessed and named by naval Chaplain Father Michael Delaney and Margaret Lennon in Devonport.

25 August 2002
Open Day in Devonport attracts 23,000 people.


26 August 2002
Six additional daylight sailings announced for Spirit of Tasmania I & II. Bookings up 66% for September and 47% in October compared to the same

time the previous year.


1 September 2002

Spirit of Tasmania I & II commence service.


3 September 2002
A team from television program Getaway travels overnight to Tasmania onboard Spirit of Tasmania I.


23 September 2002Four more daylight sailings announced due to heavy demand.


2 October 2002
Spirit of Tasmania announces $161,000 raised for charity from all the Open Days.


28 October 2002
12 additional daylight sailings scheduled to cater for demand.

10 December 2002
Smokefree Tasmania presents Spirit of Tasmania with an award acknowledging the company's decision to introduce a smoke-free environment onboard both its vessels.

16 January 2003
A team from television program Great Outdoors travels onboard Spirit of Tasmania II.

20 January 2003
Bookings up 43% or an additional 113,000 passenger movements compared to the same time the previous year. Total number of bookings made for the new service already exceeds total number of passenger movements in the 2001/02 financial year (348,000) by 28,000. Passenger vehicle bookings up 53%.

31 January 2003
20 additional daylight sailings scheduled for February, March and April.

19 February 2003
Bookings for shoulder season already 40% ahead of previous year's record numbers. Spirit of Tasmania adds 21 seats to its Call Centre in Devonport.

26 March 2003
12 additional daylight voyages scheduled.

April 2003
Spirit of Tasmania carries 17,000 passengers in one week during the Easter period.

28 April 2003
Television crew from Postcards travels overnight to Tasmania on Spirit of Tasmania I.

6 June 2003
Tasmanian Premier Jim Bacon announces Spirit of Tasmania has taken a record 500,000th booking for the 2002/03 financial year. Passenger numbers are up 153,000 or 44% above the previous year as a whole.

25 June 2003
Crew of Spirit of Tasmania I donates $2000 to Giant Steps charity as part of Lost Time to Injury program - crew achieved 60 days LTI free.

30 June 2003
Crew of Spirit of Tasmania II donates $2000 to Tasmanian Fire Service as part of Lost Time to Injury program - crew achieved 64 days LTI free.

August/September 2003
Around 120 travel agents travel on the Spirit of Tasmania ships in one week as part of a 'Mega Familiarisation'.
