Today's arrival of Spirit of Tasmania III in Devonport has been delayed by very rough seas encountered during the voyage from Sydney last night.

The upper vehicle door on deck five has sustained damage and the vessel is proceeding at reduced speed to Devonport with an expected arrival time of 6 pm this evening. The damaged door does not affect the watertight integrity of the vessel which is in no danger.

No injuries were sustained by any passengers or crew.

As repairs will have to be carried out prior to the vessel sailing again, alternative arrangements are being made for passengers due to travel on the service tonight and tomorrow. These arrangements include travel on the Melbourne Spirit service, air travel or departure on the regular schedule from Thursday.

Passengers scheduled to travel today can call 13 20 10 to make alternative arrangements.
