The Edgewater
Hotel is holding Open Days today and tomorrow to showcase
its refurbishment and new accommodation facilities
in Devonport.
The Edgewater
will open its doors to local businesses and the tourism
industry (by appointment only) with tours and luncheons
on offer.
Renovations
to the Edgewater began in June 2004 with Fairbrothers
Devonport working on the project that included building
13 new terrace units with ten waterfront units currently
being renovated.
"The Edgewater's
Manager, Wolfgang Koch, has extensive experience in
this industry and he and his team have done wonders
to improve the facilities and standard of customer
service at the Edgewater," said Peter Simmons, Chief
Executive for Spirit of Tasmania .
"We now have
terrace style accommodation and there will be an executive
waterfront suite featuring a spa when the waterfront
renovation and enlargement is finished. The accommodation
is the first stage of this project," Mr Simmons said.
"The next stages
include updating the reception area, developing an
outdoor lounge and a complete renovation of the restaurant
facilities.
"With corporate,
group and government rates available, accommodation
is heavily booked throughout December and January
and it's a good indication that the project is delivering
results," said Mr Simmons.
The two Open
Days will run from 9am until 4.30pm. Any businesses,
industry representatives or conference organisers
wanting to make an appointment should contact The
Edgewater on 03 6427 8441.
Spirit
of Tasmania purchased The Edgewater in July 2003.
