Spirit of Tasmania is encouraging passengers travelling on its ships tomorrow to wear pink, with the company planning to purchase a pink ribbon for every passenger wearing the colour when boarding.
The company hopes to make a real splash on Pink Ribbon Day tomorrow (Monday 24 October), the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s annual day to increase awareness of breast cancer and raise funds to combat the disease.
Spirit of Tasmania Chief Executive Peter Simmons says the company’s contribution to the charity will extend across the three ships departing tomorrow, with one vessel departing Melbourne and two departing Devonport.
“We’re hoping to view a sea of pink on the ships and encourage all passengers travelling on the Spirits tomorrow to wear their pink fashion statements,” said Mr Simmons.
“We’re also extending the initiative to our shore-based staff working in Melbourne and Devonport tomorrow. Our staff are always keen to support these kinds of activities and I’m sure there will be a great atmosphere around the place.”
