The Tasmanian Air Rescue Trust is again the proud recipient of a donation from TT-Line through the Spirit of Tasmania work safe initiative. The safety initiative, Lost Time to Injury (LTI) aims to increase awareness of workplace safety to ensure crew members maintain a safe work environment at all times. A previous donation of $500 was presented to the Trust on 5
November 2004.

For every 60-day period where the crew are injury free, TT-Line donates $1,000 to a nominated charity. On this occasion, Spirit of Tasmania I achieved an amazing 155 days LTI free. The Captain and crew have chosen to donate $1,500 to the Tasmanian Air Rescue Trust.

In presenting the cheque to the Chair of the Trust, Commander Tom Tully, Captain Mark Davis stressed the importance of the life saving service provided by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. This service is predominantly supported through sponsorship and donations which are used to provide specialist equipment and advanced training for flight crews. Captain Davis went on to
say, “It is always comforting to know that the Westpac Rescue Helicopter has the capability to assist with water rescues in and around Tasmania and the experienced crew I understand provide exemplary assistance to complement this vital service”.

Commander Tully, in accepting the cheque, thanked the Captain and crew for their generous donation, which will go toward the purchase of medical equipment, including a replacement state-of-the art monitor/defibrillator for the rescue helicopter.

The Tasmanian Air Rescue Trust commenced in September 2000 to provide a vehicle for sponsorship and fund raising to support the vital air rescue service.
