Choose your own adventure forest from some of the following: Hollybank Treetops Adventure, Tahune Airwalk, and Dismal Swamp.
Hollybank Treetops Adventure
Hollybank Treetops Adventure is Forestry Tasmania’s newest tourism attraction 15 minutes north – east of Launceston. Visitors glide across the treetops in this unique forest canopy tour, gaining a bird’s-eye view of Tasmania’s beautiful forests.
Gliding along wires and attached by harnesses, thrill seekers are led by knowledgeable and highly trained guides through the treetops and above the Pipers River. The journey includes cable spans of between 45 metres and 370 metres, connected by tree platforms called ‘cloud stations’.
Visitors can choose from a variety of walks, including a stroll down ‘The Avenue’ or the longer ‘Walk of Change’. Why walk when you can fly?
Bookings recommended at www.treetopsadventure.com.au
Tahune Airwalk
Explore the treetops of the Tahune forest along a 40-metre high steel airwalk. The 671-metre walk takes you through the canopy of some of Tasmania’s famous trees including celery-top pine, sassafras, myrtle and blackwood and the towering stringybarks. The highlight of the walk is the 40-metre cantilever, which provides breathtaking views of the forests, mountains and the junction of the Huon and Picton rivers.
Adventure seekers can opt for the eagle glide or rafting along the Huon River. Tahune Airwalk is located 1.5 hours south from Hobart. A forest encounter you won’t forget!

Dismal Swamp
Raised above the surrounding plains, Dismal Swamp and its unusual sinkhole geology create a unique ecosystem that has existed for tens of thousands of years. Discover the 600-hectare ‘crater’ that is home to blackwoods and the rare burrowing crayfish. Pod-casts will help you explore the many pathways around the sinkhole, accessible by walkway or an exhilarating slide down into a different world.
While discovering the different pathways, you will find something fascinating and curious around each corner – from mega fauna giants of the forest to swamp creatures to the secret keyhole door. The experience will be completed by the impressive view of the sinkhole forest from the cantilevered platform.
Located approximately 30 minutes from Smithton in north-west Tasmania. Dismal Swamp is a place of mystery and imagination not to be missed on a Tasmanian Tour.
