Dine with the Devils
Situated on the edge of the magnificent World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain National Park Devils@Cradle is a unique Tasmanian conservation facility housing Tasmania's three carnivorous marsupials—the Tasmanian devil and the eastern and spotted-tail quoll.
Staff at the sanctuary conduct conservation programs for the Tasmanian devil including an on-site breeding program to ensure the continuation of the species. A visit to the sanctuary during the day will allow you to wander through the grounds at your leisure and see the animal's daylight habits, including sleeping in their dens, sunbaking, play-fighting or foraging for food. One of the dedicated and very knowledgeable keepers will give you an understanding of their life cycle and the threats that confront them.
But the real treat arguably comes once darkness falls, where you will enjoy something truly extraordinary—a dining experience with the devils! As the sun sets over Cradle Mountain, you can keep warm by the camp fire, roasting marsh mellows while the sound of screeching Tasmanian devils fills the air. You can then sample delicious Tasmanian salmon, cheese, wine and beer while wandering through the ancient rainforest which these creatures call home. What better way to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and nibbles than in the wilderness? Don't worry - you’ll be finished in time for your dinner reservations at nearby Cradle Mountain Lodge.
After Dark Feeding Tours are 1.25 hours long and commence at 5:30pm daily. *8:30pm After Dark Feeding Tours operate daily during daylight savings only.
The sanctuary is open from 10:00am with 'keeper tours' conducted on the hour.
