Geelong’s Top Caravan Parks

Nothing beats the freedom of hopping in your own caravan or motorhome and setting off on an adventure at your own pace. Whether you’re going where the wind blows you or following a set itinerary, it’s one of the best ways to discover a destination with ultimate flexibility.

Before your journey on board Spirit of Tasmania, why not spend some time exploring Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula, and stay in one of the region’s popular caravan parks?

Here’s our pick of the best caravan parks in the Geelong area – all conveniently located for boarding or disembarking Spirit of Tasmania's new home.

Discovery Parks – location, location, location

Just five minutes from the centre of Geelong, Discovery Parks is fabulously located for exploring. You’ll have all of the city’s attractions at your fingertips, from the waterfront to Geelong Adventure Park, along with stunning beaches and the Great Ocean Road. Facilities include a kitchen, laundry, onsite restaurant and barbecue area, where a weekly ‘sizzle and mingle’ event invites guests to bond over snags.

Travelling with kids? They’ll love the onsite playground and indoor heated pool – not to mention the special weekend breakfast of pancakes from the onsite machine. Choose a cabin or a caravan spot, some with ensuite facilities available.

Riverglen Holiday Park – family-run fun

Adjacent to Discovery Parks and overlooking Barwon Valley Park is family-run Riverglen Holiday Park, where service with a smile takes centre stage. The pretty setting features rows of colourful wooden cottages under the shadow of leafy gum trees, together with a selection of powered sites, two well-equipped kitchens, laundry facilities and undercover barbecue areas.

Little ones will have plenty to keep them entertained with a TV and games room, two swimming pools and a play area complete with a jumping pillow. Little extras such as high-speed Wi-Fi and hairdryers to hand make for a comfortable stay.

Barwon River Holiday Park – riverside beauty

The popular Barwon River Holiday Park is operated by G’Day Parks, the largest holiday park operator in Australia with 300 sites in its portfolio. Located right on the banks of the Barwon River amid 10 acres of gardens, this site is particularly scenic, with views that span from the river to the adjacent Geelong Lawn Tennis Club.

There’s a seasonal heated pool, a wading pool for the kids and a fun dinosaur-themed adventure playground. And did we mention the adults’ playground, Little Creatures Brewery, is just a hop, skip and a jump away?

BIG4 Bellarine – best for kids

BIG4 Bellarine has a reputation for its fantastic family facilities and its Bellarine site is no exception. Youngsters will be spoilt for choice for things to do here, whether that’s churning dirt on the BMX track, racing go karts, playing board games, bouncing on the jumping pillow, getting stuck in at the kids’ club or having splashy fun at the swimming pools – one of which has a water slide.

And for grown-ups? There’s a gym, movie room, aerobics classes, basketball and tennis courts and more, along with all the practicalities such as laundry facilities and a camp kitchen. Pull up to a powered site or stay in a safari-style tent or spacious unit.

Riverview Family Caravan Park – coastal views

If a location just steps from the beach and sunset views over the sea before bed sounds perfect to you, look no further than Riverview Family Caravan Park.

Nestled right on the Ocean Grove peninsula with the Barwon River to one side and the ocean to the other, this scenic site is in an ideal spot for coastal walks and splashy beach days. Its modern amenities include an indoor campers’ kitchen, barbecue facilities, a laundry and two kids’ playgrounds. During the summer, food vans park up to tempt you with all different types of cuisine, the scents dancing on the salty breeze.
