Free Car On Board – Spirit of Tasmania Launches Winter Travel Offer

Monday, 28 April 2025

This winter, Spirit of Tasmania is giving travellers the ultimate freedom to explore - with a limited-time offer to bring your car for free* across Bass Strait.

From 1 May to 31 October 2025, passengers can pack more into their next adventure by taking their vehicle on board at no cost. Whether it’s mountain bikes, hiking boots, puffer jackets or gear for your next big adventure — this offer means you can load up and hit the road your way.

“With this offer, we’re giving travellers the chance to explore Tasmania with total flexibility,” said a Spirit of Tasmania spokesperson. “Having your own vehicle lets you discover Tasmania’s hidden gems — from cellar doors and farm gates to secluded cabins and misty mountain trails. Winter is Tasmania’s off season — and the perfect time to embrace slowing down and enjoying the kind of road trip only Tassie can offer.”

The offer applies to standard vehicles, campervans and motorhomes under 6 metres, as well as motorbikes and pushbikes. Larger vehicles, including caravans, will also benefit, receiving a discount equivalent to the free fare of a standard car.

Bookings are open now, but availability is limited and expected to sell quickly.
