Crew on board Spirit of Tasmania’s iconic vessels will be showing their support for Australia’s campaign to stop violence against women today, swapping their usual black and whites for White Ribbon Day t-shirts.
“Every year, we’ve been flying the White Ribbon flag on our ships with pride,” White Ribbon Ambassador and Spirit of Tasmania II Hotel Manager Gerry Gaffney said.
“When it comes to getting behind something as important and serious as breaking the silence around violence against women, we support this all the way.
“This year we have a White Ribbon charity luncheon planned on 11 December with the Maritime Union of Australia.
“We have also received support from a number of other maritime and transport companies that have all come together and generously donated nearly $100,000 dollars to the cause – which is just truly fantastic to be a part of,” Spirit of Tasmania CEO Charles Griplas said.
Maritime and Transport companies who have donated to the White Ribbon luncheon on 11 December include Spirit of Tasmania, Maritime Union of Australia, ASP Ship Management, DP World, Teekay, CSL, Linfox, Asciano, Farstad, METL and Patrick Stevedores.
