Spirit of Tasmania II will be briefly visiting Hobart later this month with routine maintenance and repairs taking place in Hobart.
The works will be undertaken between 18 July and 7 August at the Macquarie Wharf.
While in Hobart, Spirit of Tasmania II will undergo deck and hull preservation and painting, scheduled tank inspections, routine maintenance on the Main Engine, Main Gearboxes, Generators and Auxiliary Equipment. General repairs will also be done to the ship’s interior to ensure the vessel is in top condition when it resumes service in early August.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Bernard Dwyer said having the maintenance works done in Hobart presented another opportunity for Tasmanian companies to benefit.
“Our current Spirit of Tasmania vessels remain very highly regarded on the international ship market because of our rigorous schedule of maintenance. Tasmania has such a strong reputation for quality workmanship in the maritime sector and this lay-up provided the ideal opportunity for local companies maintain this iconic Tasmanian ship.” He said.
