Spirit Wins Major Tour Transport Operator Award

Spirit of Tasmania has been presented with the Major Tour / and or Transport Operator category award in the 2013 Tasmanian Tourism Awards announced in Hobart on Friday 8 November.

The company was also inducted into the Tasmanian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame on the night. The Tasmanian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame recognises those businesses that have achieved outstanding success at the Tasmanian Tourism Awards by winning the same category for three consecutive years.

More than 500 industry representatives attended the gala dinner to celebrate the awards, which promote and reward business excellence in the Tasmanian tourism industry. TT-Line Company Pty Ltd Chief Executive Charles Griplas said he humbled to win the award and congratulated staff and crew for the achievement.

“Our team work extremely hard to ensure our customers have a memorable trip to remember,” he said.

“This award means so much to all of us because we are constantly looking at ways to improve and sell the Tasmanian experience.

“Last week we launched a new ship tour video on our website to show our potential customers what travelling by sea is all about. The video shows real passengers wining, dining and enjoying themselves on board.

“Our new ‘Experience Tasmania’ publication will be released early next year. Last year we released two editions of our 24 page Cruising Tasmania publication in 2012/13 (spring/ summer and autumn/winter) which featured information about six driving holidays, highlighting the best attractions, experiences and events in the state. More than 41,000 copies of the publication were requested and distributed.”

“These are just some of the things our team do to keep Spirit of Tasmania at top of mind for travel to Tasmania.”

“I would also like to congratulate Silver Award winner Par Avion Wilderness Tours and finalist Under Down Under Tours in the same category award – it’s an honour to be represented with them,” said Mr Griplas.

Spirit of Tasmania will be represented at the National Australian Tourism Awards in Sydney on 7 February 2014.
