The 2025 Ballarat International Foto Biennale, presented by Intrepid, is a dynamic exploration of visual storytelling. At the heart of this year’s festival is Lifeforce—a theme that pulses through every frame, exploring identity, resilience, and the unseen energies that shape how we live and connect.
Leading this year’s program is acclaimed British-Ghanaian artist Campbell Addy with his ground-breaking exhibition I Love Campbell. Addy’s images are about the beauty of humans, about difference, about being seen. I Love Campbell presents powerful portraits, fashion photography, and intimate self-reflections that challenge convention and celebrate the beauty of multiplicity.
Featuring a newly conceived set of images, original paintings and a short film shot on location in Ghana, I Love Campbell reflects a personal meditation on the artist’s roots and inspiration.
From galleries to laneways, streets to businesses, and historic buildings, the Biennale showcases the works of international and Australian photographers. These powerful images explore what drives everyone—emotionally, politically, spiritually—offering a compelling lens on resilience, identity, and the forces shaping everyone’s lives.
