Steeped in history, visit the many graves scattered around the Avenel Cemetery.
Within the cememtery, visitors will find the grave of John ‘Red’ Kelly, the father of the infamous Ned Kelly. ‘Red’ was laid to rest at the age of 45 on the 28 December 1866. He died in the Kilmore Gaol after his health was ruined due to alcohol abuse. This grave marks one stop on the Ned Kelly Trail throughout the region.
