Blue Gables is a family owned and operated vineyard and cellar door. Catherine and Alistair Hicks planted the vines in 2004/05 and have been producing wine in the bottle since 2008.
Situated high on a hill, they have an exposed site that is warmer than most in Gippsland by day, yet with the absence of any sea breeze their nights cool off significantly. These day/night temperature extremities are perfect for viticulture and this unique microclimate has resulted in the wines displaying intense varietal flavour and elegance.
The vineyard, Blue Gables, is appropriately named after the picturesque farmhouse on the property.
Blue Gables has 12 acres under vine, consisting of sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, pinot gris, shiraz, sangiovese and pinot noir. They produce a glorious sparkling chardonnay/pinot gris called “Sparkling Indiana” after their youngest daughter Indiana. They also produce a sparkling shiraz that sells out vintage to vintage.
Blue Gables Vineyard is a five star Halliday Rated Winery for 2022/2023.
Along with wine tastings, they serve amazing wood fired pizzas and cheese and antipasto platters from local producers.
They regularly have live music on weekends.
