Stretching 3.8 kilometres across Capel Sound and Tootgarook, this pristine swimming beach environment is also perfect for camping and boating.
A boardwalk abutting “Chinaman’s Creek Nature Reserve” provides access to the white sandy beaches and iconic and colourful bathing boxes along this pretty stretch of beach. The water is crystal clear and lovely to swim in the deeper patches.
There is a boat ramp located opposite Burdett St (Tootgarook). The ramp is open for launching from Spring until the end of April. No fees apply to launch.
Grassy, powered and unpowered camping sites are located along the foreshore reserve, some with absolute beach frontage and all within easy access to the beach and shops.
A public toilet and outdoor shower can also be found on the ‘Boardwalk’ Beach access point.
Local cafes and restaurants are across the road to grab refreshments.
Pets are allowed on the beach at various times.
One of Australia’s most iconic travel experiences, Spirit of Tasmania makes travelling across Bass Strait flexible, convenient and easy.
