Glass Fusing Workshop – Beginners Glass Workshop

More Information

In this art glass workshop, you will discover a new medium and have fun with friends while creating your very own large glass platter and set of coasters.

Your instructor will go over the different types of glass and give you a brief rundown on art glass, including System 96 which you will be using to create your pieces. You will be shown the different forms of glass as well as examples of opaque and translucent coloured glass so you can develop your piece. You will be guided in the basics of glass working, including breaking, shaping and designing with glass.

Everyone will be provided with appropriate-sized bases of glass for their projects to ensure a solid finished piece after firing. Then working with glass pieces, frits, powders, stringers, and beads you will create and glue your designs ready for firing.

The workshop costs include all materials required and all tools will be provided in the studio for use by participants.

Please note you will not be taught how to use a glass cutter in this workshop due to time constraints, you will be working with small glass pieces and mosaic nippers to shape glass. To learn to use glass cutters please see their Lightcatchers or Leadlight workshops.
