Holy Trinity Cathedral

More Information

The Holy Trinity Cathedral is a central point of the Wangaratta Community. Built in 1908, visitors can access the cathedral during daylight hours and are welcome to services. The bells are the oldest ring of eight in Australia, cast in 1806, following the battle of Trafalgar.

At the Holy Trinity Cathedral, visitors can see some beautiful lead lighting in the windows showing religious and community scenes. One feature worth noting is the lead lighting story over the main entry door which depicts the story of Wangaratta starting from the bottom up showing the beginnings of the city as a farming community. The cathedral was built in stages with most of the granite coming from the nearby Warby Ranges.

The grounds of the Cathedral are home to the Wangaratta Farmers Market on the second Saturday of the Month. The resident organist has performances during the morning of the market that the public is welcome to attend.
