Wander from the serene lakeside to gently winding waterways, through beautifully maintained botanical gardens and remnant river red gum forest. Explore the Indigenous Community Garden, and discover the natural wonder of Jaycee Island, home to towering Moreton Bay figs and exotic Bunya Bunya pines.

Celebrate Benalla’s rich arts and heritage along the way. Visit the outstanding Benalla Art Gallery, delve into local history at the Costume and Kelly Museum, admire the eye-catching Gaudí-inspired ceramic mural, and step into the shadow of time at the analemmatic sundial, all set conveniently along the lakeside walk.

Lake Benalla and its surrounding wetlands are alive with native wildlife. Spot fish darting below the surface, and keep an eye out for rakali (water rats), the elusive platypus, and three species of native turtles – the Eastern Snake-necked, Broad-shelled, and Murray River turtles. Birdlife is abundant too, especially in the stillness of dawn or dusk.
