Maclean Bay Wines began as a hobby in 2013 when Scott and Sonia settled in Bicheno, on the east coast of Tasmania. This hobby has now developed into a thriving grape growing and wine producing business.
Most weekends, Scott and Sonia can be found tending the vineyard with their two children in tow; pruning, training vines, netting, handpicking grapes or winemaking, depending on the season. Both passionate about beautiful wines and the east coast of Tasmania, Scott and Sonia aim to grow and create some of Tasmania’s finest wines.
Maclean Bay vineyard is around two hectares in size and just ten minutes north of Bicheno town centre. The bay in front of the vineyard is known as Maclean Bay and its beautiful, untouched waters are visible from the vines.
The long growing season and cool nights enable the grapes to ripen gradually, giving slow sugar and flavour development. The rich clay-based soil in which the vines grow, is perfect for viticulture.
Maclean Bay produces award winning Pinot Noir, Pinot Rosé and Sparkling Rosé.
One of Australia’s most iconic travel experiences, Spirit of Tasmania makes travelling across Bass Strait flexible, convenient and easy.
