Mansfield Cemetery holds significant historical value, particularly with its connection to Ned Kelly. The burial sites of Sergeant Michael Kennedy, Constable Thomas Lonigan, and Constable Michael Scanlan, the three policemen killed at Stringybark Creek by the Kelly Gang on 23 October 1878, are prominently marked.
