A 19 kilometre section of the rail trail from the Murchison Township to the rail bridge at Channel Inlet Road and then onto Rushworth has been completed. The section includes the recently refurbished historically significant bridge over the Stuart Murray Canal and borders the unique ecosystem of Doctor’s Swamp wetlands.

The trail offers easy access to the Parks Victoria picnic area on the western boundary of the swamp, from Channel Inlet Road giving easy access to Waranga Basin. From the 1 April 2025, the trail connecting through to Rushworth has now been completed.
