Netsuke Carving Workshop at the Rare Trades Centre

More Information

Learn the ancient art of netsuke wood carving with master woodcarver Hape Kiddle.

Carve a beautiful netsuke fish or toadstool, using time-honoured Japanese techniques like himotoshi (creating passageways for the cord) and ukibori (relief carving). With expert guidance, you’ll shape your design using traditional hand tools, bringing your creation to life with intricate details and craftsmanship.

Held at Ballarat’s Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades, a world-class facility dedicated to learning and preserving Australia’s rare arts and trades through a series of workshops, masterclasses, events, and residencies.
