On August 8, internationally acclaimed diva Danielle de Niese will showcase her passion for contemporary opera and the music that made her, from John Denver to George Gershwin for one night only at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
International Ambassador for the Australian Contemporary Opera Company (ACOCO), Danielle de Niese has long championed the evolving face of opera, bridging the gap between traditional and modern audiences through genre-spanning performances.
A concert in two parts, the first half will feature new works that have been debuted and specifically written or arranged for Danielle, while the second half will get personal – a ‘desert island’ selection of Danielle’s favourites, accompanied by stories from her extraordinary life and career.
Born in Melbourne, Danielle de Niese is one of the most sought-after opera singers of her generation, captivating audiences worldwide with her magnetic stage presence and versatile vocal abilities. Her breakthrough performance as Cleopatra at Glyndebourne Festival in 2005 catapulted her to international stardom, and led to a multi-album deal with Decca Records. Since then, Danielle de Niese has performed leading roles at prestigious opera houses across the globe, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, and La Scala; and appeared in films and on Broadway.
