The Riordan King of the Mountain returns this September. Challenge yourself, or come to support those who choose to take it on.

From 1978-1988 the original Wycheproof King of the Mountain challenged competitors to lug 63.5 kilogram bags of wheat one kilometre to the summit of Mount Wycheproof – officially the world’s smallest mountain. ​The annual event attracted participants from across the nation, bringing together running enthusiasts and spectators alike.

In 2023, after 35 years, the Wycheproof-Narraport Football Club resurrected the King of the Mountain carnival, putting Wycheproof back on the map as the home Australia’s toughest foot race.

And it’s back again this year.

With 10 race categories, including the Riordan King and Queen of the Mountain , there’s an option for everyone. The run is followed by a community picnic with medal presentations, the AFL Grand Final on the big screen, food vendors and free kids entertainment. A great day out for everyone!
