Explore the untouched streetscape of Tarnagulla, also known as the Town of Churches. Several buildings are classified by The National Trust. Cycle and walking the tracks lead around the town and through the State Forest.
A short drive takes you to Moliagul and the monument marking where the largest nugget of gold, the ‘Welcome Stranger’ was found. John Flynn, founder of the inland Flying Doctor Service was also born at Moliagul – a monument to him is opposite his birthplace.
Kooyoora State Park has the famous Melville Caves, the lookout offering panoramic views of the surrounding country.
Rostrata is a great base for cycling, gold detecting, bird watching, and photography, both day and night. An easy drive to the Loddon River at both Newbridge and Bridgewater, provides great spots for fishing, kayaking and more. Nearby Inglewood has several antique/collector shops etc., and Bridgewater has the bakery, famous for Vanilla slice.
