Searoad Ferries, Australia’s favourite car and passenger ferry service, crosses the southern tip of Melbourne’s Port Phillip Bay and connects the Great Ocean Road and the Bellarine to the Mornington Peninsula. The 40 minute crossing is a great alternative to the three hour drive around through the city traffic and on toll roads, saving time and road miles.
During the crossing passengers will see ever changing sights – watch out for dolphins, whales in winter and spectacular coastal scenery. Arriving at Sorrento, you will have a perfect view of the clifftop mansions, tiny coves filled with boats, the beautiful foreshore and old limestone buildings. The historic fort, black lighthouse, the harbour tower and historic homes welcome all arrivals to Queenscliff, the gateway to the Great Ocean Road.
There are two specially designed all weather 60 metre ferries departing from both Queenscliff and Sorrento on the hour, every two hours between 7:00am to 6:00pm daily. Enjoy easy drive-on and drive-off facilities, spacious comfortable lounges with full length windows, a tempting cafe with barista and a fresh menu offering.
There is plenty of deck space and observation areas and a children’s play area make for a relaxing crossing.
Dogs welcome on leash.
One of Australia’s most iconic travel experiences, Spirit of Tasmania makes travelling across Bass Strait flexible, convenient and easy.
