The Art Series Lunch is an opportunity to connect with creatives, artists and makers by sharing a delicious meal, knowledge and experiences of art, craft and creative practice. The first of their lunches includes Mark Mason, a ceramic artist whose home and studio is based on Dja Dja Wurrung country in Castlemaine, Central Goldfields Victoria.
Mark has been designing and making ceramics since the 1970’s, experimenting with form and surface with a focus on the immediate and captivating magic of Raku, a low-fired form of firing originating in early Japanese tea ceremony culture. In his latest exhibition, simply titled Raku, Mark is showcasing his latest matte copper and horse hair raku forms.
Enjoy a three course lunch, hosted by Fossickers Fine Food and Eatery, amongst Marks inspiring work in the small creative space, The Folk Experiment. Meet Mark and others interested in the creative process, local stories and connecting with community. In conversation with the Folk Experiment Curator, Mark will share insights into his latest exhibition and creative experiences.
