Whether you’re an art lover, a bird enthusiast, or simply seeking a quiet place for reflection, Winton Cemetery offers more than meets the eye. Come see the mural, enjoy the natural beauty, and discover the stories held within this serene landscape.
In 2022, the Winton Cemetery became home to a striking work of public art that adds color and life to its peaceful grounds. Commissioned by the committee, renowned local artist Tim Bowtell transformed one side of a storage and maintenance container into a breathtaking mural featuring the vibrant blue-faced honeyeater – a beloved native bird often spotted among the grevilleas that bloom throughout the cemetery.
This unexpected artistic highlight invites visitors to pause and appreciate both nature and creativity in a setting steeped in history and care. The cemetery itself is lovingly maintained by the dedicated volunteers of the Winton Cemetery Trust, whose tireless efforts ensure the grounds remain a tranquil and respectful space for remembrance.
