This renowned little fuel stop harks back to Woods Point’s hey-day. The tiny, original timber building was once a functioning petrol station and bore witness to the gold-mining fever of the 19th century.
By the mid 1860s there were about 50 functioning mines around Woods Point, plus some 30 hotels, a police station, a hospital, a chemist, six banks, dancing saloons, a newspaper and various other businesses.
Today the town is home to a permanent population of less than 30, but relics of the by-gone era abound and a visit to Woods Point is a living history lesson. Call in to the Woods Point Store or Hotel whilst in town. Please note: No fuel available in Woods Point.
