It is important that you provide the correct length and height for your vehicle at the time of booking, this will ensure sufficient space is confirmed for your selected sailing. Vehicle measurements are subject to confirmation on check-in and if incorrect you may be required to pay extra for the additional length to be added to your vehicle or if we are unable to accommodate the adjusted length or height of your vehicle this may result in your passage being denied.
Measuring the length of your vehicle
The total length of your vehicle including towed items (caravan, camper trailer or trailer) and attachments (drawbar, bike racks, gas cylinders etc.) must be included in the total measurement.
Please ensure the total length is measured correctly to ensure you are charged the correct price.
Measuring the height of your vehicle
The total height of your vehicle including towed items (caravan, camper trailer or trailer), roof racks and any additional items stored on the roof of the vehicle (kayaks, baggage, bicycles etc.) must be included in the total measurement.
Please ensure the total height is measured correctly and the correct height is selected at the time of booking. Providing the correct height assists with vehicle loading and ensures you are parked on the correct vehicle deck. Failure to advise the correct height may result in your passage being denied at check-in if there is insufficient vehicle space on the required vehicle deck.

How far in advance should you book when travelling with an rv or towed vehicle?
It depends on the time of year but if your required date of travel coincides with school holidays, Christmas or Easter and your travel dates are not flexible, then 10 to 11 months is recommended. If your travel dates are flexible then you can reduce this lead-time to approximately 8 to 10 months.
It should be noted there are also peak times twice each year; May to July Devonport to Geelong and August to November Geelong to Devonport.
Generally, booking as early as possible will provide you with a greater choice and availability.
Note: Spirit of Tasmania opens booking inventory approximately 11 months in advance
Are extra day sailings available outside peak periods?
From time to time day sailings are added throughout the year to meet demand so it’s always best to check the latest schedule, please visit the Sailing Schedule.
