Additional sailings scheduled

Additional sailings scheduled

17 November 2020

Spirit of Tasmania has scheduled two additional night sailings on Sunday 29 November and Sunday 6 December in anticipation of increased demand from travellers keen to reach Tasmania for the summer season.

Tasmanian Government border restrictions between the state and Victoria are expected to lift on Friday 27 November, allowing Victorians to travel to Tasmania without the need to quarantine on arrival.

Bernard Dwyer, Chief Executive Officer, said these changes to the schedule now return Spirit of Tasmania to its normal 7 day per week services.

"Tasmania is the ideal destination for touring, so it’s no surprise that people are keen to travel as soon as the borders open. These two additional sailings will allow passengers more flexibility when they are planning their trip.

“We appreciate that the situation with COVID-19 is still evolving and in the event that Tasmania’s border restrictions prevent passengers from travelling we are continuing to waive amendment fees for these passengers.”

Mr Dwyer said Spirit of Tasmania had a comprehensive COVID-19 Safety Management Plan in place for the protection of all passengers and crew.

“Our onboard facilities are now open to passengers with all of the COVID-19 measures in place,” he said.

“Earlier this year, we installed hand sanitiser stations throughout the terminals and ships and clear protective screens at our counters.

“Social distancing is in place throughout the vessels and we have introduced online ordering and take away dining options. This is in addition to an increased cleaning schedule, contactless payments and the requirement for passengers to wear masks on board.”

Travellers should continue to monitor the latest situation at all times prior to travel. For more information about border restrictions, please visit: healthdirect.gov.au/covid19-restriction-checker/domestic-travel
