Our precautionary measures like frequent and thorough cleaning, flexible dining options, and cashless payments keep you safe on board. Rest assured that when you sail with us your safety and comfort always comes first.

Keeping you safe on board

Before you travel

Please do not travel if unwell

If you have COVID-19, are feeling unwell, have a fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath, or have been instructed to quarantine please defer your travel plans.

Stay informed

Four days before you travel we will send you an email with important information and reminders for your upcoming journey. We will also send SMS updates prior to your journey. We encourage you to read the COVID-19 FAQs and check your phone for updates.

Register your travel

All passengers are required to register their travel prior to boarding. Passengers travelling to Tasmania should visit coronavirus.tas.gov.au to apply for a Tas e-Travel or G2G Pass. Passengers who are unable to present a Tas e-Travel or G2G Pass will not be permitted to board. Passengers travelling to Victoria should apply for a border entry permit at service.vic.gov.au.

When you check in

Frequent and thorough cleaning

We continue to maintain high cleaning standards. Our terminals are cleaned thoroughly and high touch surfaces are cleaned multiple times throughout the day.

Hand sanitiser stations

To help you maintain good personal hygiene, hand sanitiser is available for your use throughout our terminals and on board.

Face masks

All passengers are required to wear a face mask during check-in, boarding and disembarkation and in any public areas on board. Children under 12 years and passengers with a medical exemption are not required to wear a face mask.

Your health is important to us

For your safety and the safety of other passengers and our staff, you will be asked to state your health condition when checking in, you will be asked some questions and temperature testing may be required.

Contactless check-in

A self-service kiosk is available in our terminals for walk-on passengers.

When you are on board

Flexible dining options

Online food ordering and take-away options are available from bars on the upper decks while ‘grab and go’ sandwiches and snacks are available at The Pantry. Seated dining is available at the restaurant.

Frequent and thorough cleaning

Throughout the journey our crew are regularly cleaning and sanitising high touch surfaces in common areas using 100% chemical-free, hospital grade disinfectant. After each sailing, the whole vessel including cabins and recliners are cleaned and sanitised and individual cabins are sealed for your protection.

Medical assistance

A Medical Attendant is on board at all times and will work with our highly trained crew to implement procedures should you or another passenger present with COVID-19 symptoms.

Social distancing

Please maintain a 1.5m distance between yourself and others at all times. To help guide you and other passengers, floor markings and signs are located in our terminals and throughout our ships.

Safety screens

For your protection, clear protective screens are in place at all registers and contact points.

Cashless payments

To reduce shared contact, we only accept cashless payments in our terminals and on board. We accept credit and debit card payments including all ‘tap and go’ methods such as Apple Pay.

When things change

Flexible Booking Conditions

When circumstances change we are here to support you. In the event that you need to reschedule your travel plans as a result of restrictions, rest assured that we will waive cancellation fees on existing bookings. In certain circumstances, based on Public Health advice, our onboard offering may be restricted. *Card payment and booking fees are non-refundable. If an amendment is made and there is an increase in the fare price it will be payable at the time of change. Online amendments and cancellations are available up to 3 hours prior to your scheduled departure time. Find out more about the COVID-19 special fare conditions here. When onboard facilities are closed

Public Health advice

In line with Public Health advice and for the health and wellbeing of all passengers and staff in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, Spirit of Tasmania may close its onboard facilities.

Stay in your cabin

For the safety of everyone on board you may be required to remain in your assigned cabin for the duration of the journey.

No Shared Cabins or Recliners

If you have booked a Female or Male Shared Cabin or a Recliner you will need to upgrade to a Private Cabin at your own expense. If there is no availability of Private Cabins, we will amend your booking to another suitable sailing or offer you a refund.

Bring your own food

Snacks will be provided to you on arrival however we recommend you pack your own meals and beverages.

Pack your own entertainment

We suggest you pack enough entertainment options to keep you occupied throughout the sailing. Download your favourite shows, books, magazines and music before you sail so you can watch, read and listen at your leisure, even when Wi-Fi is out of range.
