TT-Line has been awarded the 2016 Shippax Ship Conversion Award for the delivery of Spirit of Tasmania’s highly-complex refurbishment project.
The company was presented with the prestigious international award on board Tallink Silja's Silia Symphony, currently sailing between Stockholm and Helsinki.
The award recognises the close and effective collaboration of work between TT-Line, designer Richard Nilsson of Figura and turnkey contractor Trimline in delivering a world-class refurbishment project.
TT-Line chief executive officer Bernard Dwyer said the company was very pleased to receive this award, which recognised the efforts of staff, crew and contractors throughout the life of the project from concept to completion.
“The scope of this project was incredible,” he said.
“It was a complicated task given that some of the works were required while maintaining our overnight sailing schedule.
“We were also very pleased that over 20 Tasmanian-based contractors were commissioned by UK-based Trimline to work on the project, delivering the highest quality of marine interior fitout on time and budget. Again this showcases the skills and abilities of Tasmanian Companies and their ability to compete on the World Stage.”
TT-Line marine project manager Massimo Soprano said the dedicated project management team, staff and ship crews worked collaboratively to support the complex logistics, effective coordination, execution of tasks and relaunch.
“This prestigious international award recognises this joint effort,” he said.
