TT-Line Company Pty Ltd has appointed Bernard Dwyer to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Dwyer will officially take up the position on 3 November 2014.
TT-Line chairman Mike Grainger said Mr Dwyer has significant experience in the Tasmanian tourism sector, working for the past 14 years in various senior management positions with the Federal Group, including nearly nine years as its Director of Tourism.
“Given the Tasmanian Government’s desire to see visitor numbers to Tasmania increase in the medium-term, and the critical role TT-Line’s vessels will play in this, the Board is confident Bernard’s experience in senior tourism and general management roles will be extremely beneficial to the future operations of TT-Line,” he said.
During his tenure at Federal Group, Mr Dwyer oversaw the development of the Saffire property on the east coast and assisted in developing the Federal Group’s tourism portfolio under the nationally awarded Pure Tasmania brand.
Prior to joining the Federal Group in 2000, Mr Dwyer worked as a management consultant for KPMG Tasmania and Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Sydney and in various senior management roles with the former Trust Bank and SBT Bank – Tasmania.
Mr Dwyer’s appointment follows an exhaustive recruitment and interview process that attracted a strong field of interstate-based and Tasmanian-based candidates.
Mr Grainger said Mr Dwyer, a current TT-Line Board member, would resign as a non-executive director of the TT-Line Board.
Mr Dwyer replaces Charles Griplas as CEO who resigned on 1 July 2014.
