Spirit of Tasmania II update - 16 January 6:18pm
Spirit of Tasmania II will recommence sailing tomorrow (Sunday 17 January) after repairs were completed and approved by all relevant authorities.
The vessel will return in time to operate double sailings on Sunday (17 January) and Monday (18 January).
Spirit of Tasmania II will depart on a scheduled day sailing from Melbourne to Devonport on Sunday.
The sailing originally scheduled for 9am will now depart at 10am.
Spirit of Tasmania chief executive officer Bernard Dwyer congratulated TT-Line employees and contractors for their collective “round-the-clock” effort to repair the vessel and return it to the Bass Strait crossing in time for the double sailings on Sunday and Monday (18 January).
“Quite simply, our team has done an outstanding job recovering from a significant unexpected incident,” he said.
“I would also like to thank our passengers for their patience, understanding and messages of support since extreme winds led to Spirit of Tasmania II being damaged mid-week.”
Mr Dwyer said there may be some delays to departure times over the next few days.
“We will be working hard to get the schedule back into proper alignment,” he said.
“In the meantime, we urge our customers to check https://www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/sailing-fares/timetable-and-updates for updates.”
