Tasmania's landmark food and wine festival features the best of Tassie everything, from oysters and cheese to wine and cider.

Australia’s biggest and longest running food and wine Festival is about to kick-off for 2019! The Taste of Tasmania returns on Saturday 28 December 2019 - Friday 3 January 2020 at Princes Wharf No. 1 Shed, Hobart for another year celebrating the very best in Tasmanian produce and producers.  With stunning waterfront views, awe-inspiring performances, live music and local gourmet offerings, this is summer’s not-to-be-missed community celebration.

Local produce to whet your appetite

All culinary offering’s at The Taste are proudly 100% Tasmanian, with 93 producers, both emerging and established, serving up unique offerings including BBQ meats and seafood, cheese, berries, cool-climate wines, Tasmanian Independent craft beers and ciders, gin, whisky and much more.

One exciting new addition to The Taste this year is their very first range of providore stalls in The Marketplace! From delicious tonic syrups, jams and chutneys, confectionary and honey; you’ll be able to take a bit of The Taste home with you to enjoy long after the Festival finishes.

Free entertainment

Featuring 710 local Tasmanian artists and 225 activities and performances over seven incredible days, the massive free entertainment program at The Taste has something for everyone!

With four stages, across three main entertainment precincts, you’ll be entertained with cabaret, choir, live comedy, street, circus, community song and dance, workshops and a rocking live music line-up. The full free entertainment program for 2019's festival is here.

Bring in the new year

Celebrate the turn of the decade with Hobart’s biggest end of year celebration! Featuring five stages of high-octane entertainment, live music and performances proudly showcasing a line-up of 100% Tasmanian talent, gourmet food and drink and a front row seat for the dazzling fireworks, New Year’s Eve at The Taste is Hobart’s night of nights.

Over seven sensational hours, guests to the Taste New Year’s Eve Party can dine out on morsels prepared by over 70 stallholders while 68 top quality Tassie performers take to five stages to deliver a powerful night of entertainment.
